Why Two Dipstick Slots but Only One Dipstick in My Engine?

August 27, 2024

As we continue to sell our engines for uses other than for pressure washing, we cannot foresee if our engines will be mounted in a way that blocks the dipstick and makes it difficult to check the oil. Therefore, your engine may appear to have two dipstick locations. However, depending on your exact engine number, one location may not be threaded.

If one location DOES NOT have a dipstick, that location is NOT completely drilled through and the hole does NOT have any threads. If you shine a light into the hole, you can verify that it doesn’t have threads but has a metal bottom. This was intentional as we drilled out the dipstick location farthest from the exhaust, making it safer for you to check and fill your oil. The non-threaded location does not need a dipstick.

If you have both a gray dipstick and a black plug, both locations are threaded. In this case, the dipstick and oil plug are interchangeable.

If your engine has two threaded dipstick locations but is missing a gray dipstick or black oil plug, please contact our CRX Service Department at 1-833-279-3646 or CRXservice@Fna-Group.com for assistance with acquiring another dipstick or oil plug.
